Review | Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation

A few weeks ago when I was passing through Cork Airport, I got talking to a girl in duty free about make up. She was admiring my Collection glitter eye liner and told me she loves their Lasting Perfection foundation. I normally use Estee Lauder Double Wear but I’m short on pennies at the moment, so I thought I’d give it a go!

I decided to go with Ivory because porcelain can be a bit hit and miss with me. I applied it using my Real Techniques stippling brush and it went on beautifully! It didn’t dry in too quick so I had time to blend it in to my liking. It felt super light on my face and didn’t leave me with a cakey finish! As always, I applied Max Factor Creme Puff powder to set the foundation in place.

I work in a bar on the weekends and a busy Friday night was the perfect opportunity to test it out. Where I’m rushing about it can get hot and I usually have to top up my powder but for once I didn’t have to!  I think I might have to try the Porcelain shade as Ivory is a tiny bit too dark for me. One more thing is that it doesn’t go the full distance. Don’t get me wrong, after 12 hours of wear it still looked OK but, it had worn off my skin a bit.

If you’re looking for a budget foundation I’d definitely recommend picking this one up. It might not agree with everyone but at £5.99 it’s worth giving it a go!

Sorry for another absence! I’ve been working my backside off over the last few weeks for my trips abroad. In my next post I’ll be telling you all about what I got up to in Amsterdam!

Things I Miss About Home

As you all know I hail from Co.Cork in Ireland. I moved to London five years ago to study and it feels like just yesterday that I moved over! I’m quite lucky I’m only an hours flight away, but the homesickness still strikes!  Lorna from LC’s Closet wrote a similar post which inspired me to write my list of things I miss about home.

I have no idea what’s going on over here but the tea is AWFUL! I’ve even brought over a box of Barrys tea and it stills doesn’t taste right. I can’t tell if it’s the water or the milk. It’s ruining my reputation as an epic tea maker! You can’t bate a cup of tea back home, there’s something about it that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Tea solves all problems!

My pet dog maxie

It broke my heart having to leave my dog Maxie and apparently after I left she was pining for days! Luckily she’s realised I come back every few weeks and she goes mental! Running around the place, crying with joy and licking my face, its hilarious. When I visit I’ll have a mid morning nap on the couch and of course Maxie has to join me (I’m not complaining she keeps my feet warm haha!).

irish food products
One of my food hauls 🙂

The first few years over here were okay food wise, but then it all went downhill. I’ve turned so fussy and when I’m at home, I‘ll eat everything! 5 years on and I’m still trying to find bread and butter that I like!

The day before I have to leave home, I’ll go out to Supervalue and stock up on Clonakilty sausages, Denny bacon & McCambridge’s soda bread. When I check a bag into the hold I’ll always make sure to bring back a tub of Dairygold butter. Toast with Dairygold butter on it is the most amazing thing ever, it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, just like Irish tea!

The next food related item……..THE HOT DELI COUNTER! They don’t have them in the UK and on the rare chance they do, the food tastes awful. Deli people here can’t make a hot chicken roll like the guys at home, it’s basically an art form back in Ireland.

Cork sign and slang
Credit to for the picture

When I step off the plane in Cork I absolutely LOVE hearing everyone talk. It’s so nice being surrounded by people who sound like me and use the same phrases. In London I have to slow down my speech because people can’t understand me!! Being at home means I can talk away in a fast pace, use some slang phrases and speak in Irish and know I’ll be understood haha!

mother and daughter

I couldn’t do this post and not include Mom! You can’t bate an Irish mammy 🙂 She is one of the most amazing people I know. I remember back in the day when I was going through my rebellious phase we didn’t get along. When I moved to London we grew closer and now we’re the best of friends. She makes the best tea & food and knows me better than anyone else. It sucks being away from her, but the daily (some times twice daily) calls make things a bit easier.

I’m going home in 3 weeks for my birthday and I can’t wait!

What home comforts do you guys miss?

What Have I Been Up To?

Hey there lovelies!

I’m so sorry about the absence. I’ve been super busy running the pub and I have taken on more responsibilities than I can handle so that means no time for writing! I’m at home in Ireland at the moment so I have loads of time to write write write! I thought I’d get back into the swing of things and let ye know what I’ve been up to 🙂

Download Festival 2015

Back in June I headed up to Derby to see my favourite band Muse at Download Festival. My friends Paul and Ryan flew in from Dublin for the gig so it was great to see them and catch up! Although it was a crappy rain filled day it was lovely seeing fellow Musers and of course seeing Muse!

My dad and I went to Galway for my Grannys 86th birthday. It was his first time home in a year and a half so it was nice for him to have a break! We spent the week catching up with friends and family then on the Sunday all the family got together and we went for a meal. We all moved on to the local pub for a little session and a great time was had by all! On our way back to Cork we thought we’d take a detour and head to Father Teds house for tea 😉

Blogger Events

I attended a few events this summer and caught up with some of my lovely blogger friends. The first was the George at Asda Autumn Winter 15 preview. I fell in love with collection instantly, especially the wilderness range! The colours and prints are perfect for the season ahead and I’ve already picked up a few pieces from the collection.

A few weeks after I attended the Vichy Discovery event, where I saw the lovely Angelica from One Little Vice for the first time in AGES! We had a great catch up with some mojitos and learned all about the brand and their latest product launches. I was given some fab products to try and I’ll have a post up about them soon!

Angelica invited me to Look Fantastic’s birthday bash one evening after work. We had a little bit of time to kill before hand so we had a few cheeky bevvies in Green Park and a girly gossip! We headed up to the venue in Mayfair and we were greeted by the lovely Jess from Look Fantastic 🙂 We had a few drinks, ate some AMAZING Krispy Kreme doughnuts and chatted with some lovely blogging girlies. We were also sent home with a lovely goody bag and a Look Fantastic Beauty box! Thanks to Angelica for bringing me along and to Look Fantastic for the lovely goodies!

That’s basically all I’ve been up to over the last few weeks! Work totally kills my social life, it’s such a pain because I’m young and I want to be doing fun things while I can. It’s something I have to do at the moment and I’m helping out my dad so I can’t moan too much! Hopefully we can work out a schedule so I can get a full day off every week instead of a half day here and there. I’ve missed blogging and hopefully I won’t be away for so long again!

Thanks for reading, hopefully I didn’t put any one to sleep!

REVIEW | Estee Lauder Sumptuous Infinite Mascara

Estee lauder sumptuous infinite mascara

Last week while mom was visiting I finally got around to using the House of Fraser gift card that I won at the Bloggers Christmas Party. We spent a few pennies at the Estee Lauder counter and the lovely sales girl put a few samples in the shopping bag. One of those samples was the Sumptuous Infinite mascara.

Mascara is my favourite item of make up and if I’m not wearing it I feel naked! I’m always trying new ones and lately I’ve been using three different mascaras to achieve the look I’m after, how crazy is that! The Sumptuous Infinite mascara claims to stretch lashes to limitless lengths, so I had high hopes!

The brush is plastic and has a combination of short and long bristles to make sure every lash gets covered. It doesn’t aggravate the eyes or leave traces of mascara on your eye lids! wpid-abm_1432583176.jpg

The mascara goes on so easy and results can be seen straight away! The brush really helps with dividing the lashes and keeping them clump free. This mascara really gives the lashes a lift without too much effort involved. It’s super handy for work because it’s so long lasting. I’ll apply it at 7am and at 7pm no flakes have come off and the volume is exactly the same! Its also a good choice for summer because its sweat and humidity resistant! If you have a look bellow you can see how the Sumptuous Infinite mascara transformed my lashes! I absolutely love how it opens up my eyes 😀

wpid-abm_1432559627.jpgYou can find this mascara in Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser and many other beauty halls. It’s not cheap at £21.00/€26.00 but it’s worth every penny!

I’d love to know if any of you guys tried this mascara or something similar 🙂

Art Therapy: An Anti Stress Colouring Book

Art therapy anti stress colouring book (2)

Over the last few months I have been super busy juggling 2 jobs and eventually the stress of it all bit me in the backside. I usually keep my stress at bay through exercise but I wanted to try a different method. I actually came across the idea of an Adult Colouring Book when I was scrolling through Bloglovin on my commute.

Adult colouring books are like the in thing right now! They are top of Amazons best seller list and millions of copies have been sold worldwide. The selection of colouring books on Amazon is great and there’s something to suit everyone. Some specialise in patterns, animals, flowers; and you can even get fashion colouring books!

I went with Art Therapy: An Anti Stress Colouring Book (£3.99).  This book has a bit of everything in it so if I get bored of colouring animals I can moved on to flowers! I love how this book had a doodle section at the back where you finish the design whatever way you want. I’m not the best at drawing but I plan to give it a go! The art in the book is absolutely fabulous and the detailing is superb. The task of colouring in the lines just got harder! A lot of the designs have a wee bit of colour added which I think is great to help pick colour schemes. The pages in this book are quite thick so if you prefer using markers you don’t have to worry about the colour seeping through.

I remember as a child how much I loved colouring and how much concentration went into it. When I picked up my markers and pencils years later that quiet child concentrating on her pretty drawing came back! Colouring is so therapeutic as an adult. As a child its just a carefree activity and as an adult there are so many benefits! Colouring is a great way to distract yourself from all the stresses and strains of life. If you spend a lot of time looking at a computer screen, it is a great way to give the eyes a rest and get creative the old fashioned way!

If you fancy a new and creative way to tackle stress and unwind, adult colouring books are definitely the way to go.

Is anyone else getting in touch with their creative side?

REVIEW | Elemis Pro Collagen Ultra Rich Marine Day Cream

I picked up this little gem at an event and I have gone googley eyed for it! I have never used the Elemis range before because my poor little purse hasn’t got enough pennies and I was super delighted to have gotten my hands on a sample to try.

This day cream has a rich base to provide intensive hydration to the skin which is just what we need during the cold weather. It is also clinically proven to increase hydration and moisture by up to 45%! Its also works wonder for the girlies with mature skin, with its anti ageing factors it can reduce the appearance of wrinkle depth by up to 78%.

Like I said earlier I picked up this sample size at an event and because of its compact size I thought it would be ideal for my travels! The cream has such a lovely texture is really silky and smooth, I couldn’t wait to get it on my face! You only need a small amount because it really goes a long way.

wpid-abm_1425415854.jpgIt glides across the skin so nicely and it soaks in quick. The stats say you can notice a difference after 2 weeks but after only a few days I can see a big change in my skin. The dry patches on the sides of my nose have completely vanished and my skin feels super soft! I’m also in love with the aroma of the cream it is so uplifting and refreshing 😀 I’m definitely going to be saving up my pennies and keeping an eye out for offers because I need this cream in my life!

Have any of you tried it before?

What are your thoughts?
